Failure to yield violation (Wisconsin Act 173)
As of August 1, 2012, any person who receives a citation and is convicted for failure to yield under Wisconsin statute 346.18 will be required to attend a failure to yield right-of-way course. If the violation results in bodily hard, great bodily harm or death of another, the operating privilege will be suspended:
  • If the violation results in bodily harm, suspension will be for two months.
  • If the violation results in great bodily harm, suspension will be for three months.
  • If the violation results in death of another person, suspension will be for 9 months.
If your operating privilege is suspended, you will not be eligible to reinstate until you have successfully completed the failure to yield right-of-way course. This course has been designed to reacquaint you with vehicle right-of-way rules and provide awareness of keeping motorcyclists, pedestrians and bicyclists safe.
2 hour course will cover:

1. General rules of Right of Way.

2. Respective rights and duties of drivers, pedestrians, bi cyclists and riders of
    electric personal assistive mobility devices.

3. Determining the Right of Way.

4. When should you yield the Right of Way.

5. Right of Way rules for:

    Pedestrians, Bicycles, Motorcycles, Scooters and Mopeds.

6. Funeral Processions.

7. Intersections not controlled by signs & signals.

8. Four-Way Stops, Turning Left, Private Roads, Driveways & Unpaved Roads.
9. Throughways .
10. Intersections of Single, Two-Lane & Multiple-Lane Roads & Round-a-bouts.
American Certified Driving School
will provide the Department of Transportation
proof that you have successfully completed the 2 hour course.
